Create passwords that are long, random and different every time.
Passwords are built from your chosen character types using the browser's cryptographic random generator. The tool guarantees at least one character from each selected type, fills the rest from the full pool and shuffles the result with an unbiased shuffle. Nothing is transmitted or stored.
The info line shows an estimate of the entropy in bits. As a rule of thumb, 60 bits is fine for low value accounts and 80 or more is strong, which a 16 to 20 character password with all types easily reaches. Skip look-alikes removes characters such as O, 0, l, 1 and I for passwords that people will type by hand.
The password is made locally and never leaves your device. Still, copy it straight into a password manager and avoid sharing it by email or chat.
At least 14 characters, and 20 or more for important accounts. Length matters more than adding exotic symbols.
Passphrases of four or more random words are easier to remember and also strong. For anything you do not need to type from memory, a password manager with long random passwords is best.
